Independent Room Design Consultancy

Design Director Mark Harwood, of Harwood Homes Interiors, offers an independent, professional and personalised room design service. This service is for clients who are project managing their own refurbishment and installation.

This consultancy service includes surveying the rooms, producing working drawings (including CAD) and suggested electrical layouts.

Mark’s expertise has been recognised by clients who have recently purchased an historic Grade II Listed Victorian mansion house in Saffron Walden. Constructed of red brick under a series of pitched tiled roofs, the house boasts a striking facade with Venetian Gothic-style windows and Tudor style brick chimney stacks.

The accommodation spans three floors, providing ample space for guest wings and magnificent master suites, with great space and privacy. The high ceilings are a feature throughout the property and every room is of an enviable scale as well as having superb views over the surrounding parkland.

Despite this, the clients have chosen to completely renovate the accommodation, adding additional space and reinstating an Orangery.

Mark has spent the past year, re-designing the Drawing Room, Kitchen, Master Bedroom, Master Dressing room, Dining room, Study, Boot room, Hallway and Gallery Landing.

By removing two garages, Mark has created a new, grand entrance to the property, incorporating a boot room with bespoke fitted furniture, configured precisely for sports equipment and horse tack. Built-in benches with lift up storage, a mix of open and closed shelving and cupboards. Mark also suggested adding a cloakroom.

Mark proposed knocking three rooms in to one, to create a traditional, opulent kitchen with a 5.5 metre long island, large circular table with a William Beck (architect) designed stone fireplace as the feature.

A complete overhaul of the master bedroom, which Mark created in to a suite, with an additional Dressing Room, Lounge area with tea and breakfast making facilities.

Building works are well underway with Harwood Homes continuing to provide vital design direction until project end.

All imagery used is prior to building works taking place.
