Every design project begins with an assessment of a room’s functionality and its deficiencies. What can be manipulated to better fit the people who live there, the use of space and storage solutions.
I asked our most recent clients, a family of four, (parents with two older children), why they have chosen to renovate their kitchen space and what they hope to achieve.
“We have chosen to renovate our home as this will allow a more open plan living space”.
Once design director, Mark Harwood has an idea of how the space should function and with the client’s requirements, desired aesthetic and atmosphere, Mark will create a concept for the space.
Mark has valued experience as an interior architect and his suggested remodelling included; removing the entire back wall of the house, for the installation of sliding doors.
Removing walls to allow for an open plan dining area (currently part of a lounge diner), a utility room and updated cloakroom.
The new space will allow the dining area to be more utilised and a flood of light, from the South facing garden will fill the back of the house.

The Installation of sliding doors completed.
This entire area has now been plastered, dried and is ready for painting. The floor will be levelled at the same time, ready for the flooring team to install.
